Baroness Hodgson of Abinger, CBE

Baroness Hodgson is a longstanding campaigner on women’s issues, specialising in international women’s issues in developing, conflict and post-conflict countries. She is a Party Whip in the House of Lords and Co-chairs the APPG on Women, Peace and Security. She served on the Select Committee on Sexual Violence in Conflict. She is also Chair of the Advisory Board of GAPS (Gender Action in Peace and Security) and on the Steering Board of  the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative.

She is also a Trustee of the Chalker Foundation; and a Patron of Afghan Connection, and has been a delegate at the Commission on the Status of Women meeting at the UN in New York for the past nine years. From 2009-2012 Fiona was an elected voluntary member on the Board of the Conservative Party and Chaired the Party Conference in 2011.   She was Chair of the Conservative Women’s Organisation from 2005-8.   She is a member of the Conservative Human Rights Commission, and chaired the group that produced the report on ‘Supporting Women Human Rights Defenders’. She was awarded a CBE in 2012 for her work on gender equality.
